Take Me To Your Leader
Shannon Ruedlinger, Executive Director
Born and raised in Kansas, Shannon graduated from The University of Kansas with a BA in Public Relations and Communications. His venture into retirement community operations started in 1991 as a part time activities assistant in Lawrence, KS. A natural leader, Shannon soon rose to sales director and from there was recruited in 1996 to join the present day Watermark team where he attained executive director status in no time. Except for a brief stint when he was lured away to Chicago to work for another company, Shannon has been contributing to Watermark’s success ever since. Utilizing his skills at both the executive director and managing director level, Watermark realized that high resident and associate satisfaction seemed to follow Shannon wherever he went. When he tired of suitcases and airports, Shannon was thrilled to accept Watermark’s offer to make him executive director for The Hacienda at the Canyon, a role he commenced in 2017. It has been Shannon’s ultimate privilege to build an “A Team” from the ground up. Not only has he introduced many Canyon members to their future community, he has also surrounded himself with talented leaders who are as excited as he is to be a part of the creation of Watermark’s most extraordinary community to date. In Watermark’s management model, Executive Directors serve as their community’s “CEO” and any misstep is seen as a learning opportunity. Shannon is a role model for servant leadership, always teaching by example and wholly entrusting his team to excel.
